Winfield amps “Rosco” Yard sale
This is essentially a “Parts bin special”
I built it on a Stainless steel chassis that I found at a recycled building supply in Tucson. The Circuit is the “Rosco” volume, tone only. What no standby switch? We don’ need no steenkin' standby switch.
The cabinet is uncovered pine. The front cleats are mahogany. This is what my regular covered cabinets look like before they’re covered. I opted to just put a couple coats of spar varnish on it.
The speaker is a used Mojo Greyhound, which sounds a bit like a Vintage 30. The amp is tube rectified (5Y3), two 6v6 with cathode bias, no need to rebias when using new tubes. Long-tail pair phase inverter, so it has similar character to a Brown Deluxe. It is about 12 Watts, plenty loud, and bluesy.
Currently the preamp tubes are a 12AT7 with a 12AX7 Phase inverter, but you can play around with them if you like.
Blowout price: $650 plus shipping from 85606.
