All the track's were done with a Winfield model amp using four EL84's plugged into a 1960A 4x12" speaker cab loaded with 75 watt Celestions. I put an SM57 in front of one of the speakers about 3" back and that went straight into an MBox/ProTools-LE setup run by a Mac. No compression or fancy pre's etc. The amp was on half power with the treble, mids, and presence up around 7, and the bass down at 3 or so, and the volume controls set around 4-5. No overdrive boxes. I didn't really change any settings as I played. The amp has more sounds in it and though I have a bunch of guitars I didn't want to get too crazy with every guitar/pup combo. -- Kenny Hohman, Super400 Track 1 (431k) - This is my custom
Buttercaster
Tele, using a Rio Grande Muy Grande Tele bridge pup. Track 2 (500k) - This is a reissue '57 Goldtop LP with WCR "Fillmore" pups, using the bridge pup and a slide. Track 3 (254k) and Track 4 (179k) - The Buttercaster Tele again, using the neck pup (cleaner sound as the volume is rolled back). |
